Why Panoramic Photography Works on Large Walls

New York panoramic fine art photography by Anders Jorulf

Panoramic photography has a practical advantage in interiors: its proportions often follow the architecture rather than competing with it. A wide image can sit naturally above a sofa, sideboard or reception desk and can also structure longer walls in hotels and offices.

A wider visual rhythm

A panoramic composition allows the eye to move across the photograph. In landscapes, that can mean moving from foreground to distant peaks; in city photography, it can mean following a skyline or waterfront.

Scale without visual heaviness

A large square or vertical work can dominate a room. A panoramic piece can cover substantial wall width while still leaving more breathing space above and below, which often feels calmer in a modern interior.

Landscape, city and wildlife

The panoramic collection includes Nordic landscapes, New York cityscapes and wildlife. The subjects differ, but all use width as part of the visual idea rather than simply as a crop.
